More about the Company

Fevered Sleep was set up in 1996 by David Harradine and Samantha Butler. We make visual theatre, installation and site specific performance. All our work is design-led, devised collaboratively, and grows through improvisation and play from an initial idea. The work is grounded in ideas and in research not in form, and each project is radically different from what has gone before it.

We are based at BAC in London, and show our work across the UK and internationally, through touring and through partnerships with a wide range of venues.

The company consists of a core team of:

David Harradine (Artistic Director), Louise Blackwell/Fuel (Creative Producer), Sophie Pridell (General Manager), Samantha Butler (Associate Director), Ali Beale (Production Manager), Jo Manser (Lighting Designer).

We make work with and for audiences of all ages, from very young children up.

Future plans

2008 is a remarkable year for us, working across eight-months with the same company of creative collaborators, technicians and performers to make Brilliant and An Infinite Line, both about light.

We are also developing ideas for a new installation project for The Lowry and a new theatre piece about ageing with the Lyric Hammersmith, which will be performed by five children and an opera singer, both of which will happen in 2009.

Fevered Sleep's Artistic Director, David Harradine, has just started the final year of a three year research project about light, photography and performance, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and hosted by the University of Winchester, where David is Research Fellow in Performance.
