It’s the Skin You’re Living In
A short film and installation about climate change.
We’re working on our first major film-based project, which will premiere early in 2012. It’s the Skin You’re Living In is currently being filmed in a series of locations from the Arctic islands of Svalbard, Vatersay in the outer Hebrides, a cow farm in Bedfordshire, a factory in Wandsworth and a pedestrian footbridge on the M11 motorway.
Shot on high definition digital video and super 8 cine film, the piece is constructed from a series of surreal images of a polar bear that walks from the arctic to a house in London, all the while turning into a man. It suggests that climate change is a little bit closer to home than many of us like to think.
The project was developed through a residency in the School of Arts and Media at the University of Brighton, and will be presented in multiple formats throughout 2012 and beyond, including at film festivals, in galleries, as a site-specific multi-screen installation and online.
