Shore
"The
shore is the place where the land
and the sea fight each other for
control..."
An evocation of childhood memories
of the British coastal holiday,
Shore explores the peculiar double-ness
of the seaside: the power and
beauty of the sea, and the kitsch
tackiness of a typical resort.
Balanced on the margins between
the familiar and the unknowable,
the profound andthe banal, tragedy
and comedy; on the margins |
|
between
land and sea, the piece is set
in that strange inbetween place
we might all remember from long-ago
holidays - a place of seaweed
and saltwater, bright lights
and dark waves, candyfloss and
doughnuts and chips.
